Breast augmentations have grown from a social faux pas to an accepting beauty enhancement procedure, one that millions of women receive each year. Whether you’re looking to increase the size of your breasts, alter the shape, or are looking for solutions for a fuller breast, a breast augmentation procedure in Ocala, FL can help. If you are dissatisfied with the size and shape of your breasts, contact John W. Tyrone, M.D. Aesthetics & Plastic Surgery.

How A Breast Augmentation Can Help

All areas of the body change following dramatic weight loss and pregnancy, including to a woman’s breasts. Breast augmentation in Ocala, FL restores lost volume, giving a more rounded breast shape and/or improved natural symmetry. The procedure uses either a fat transfer from elsewhere in the body or implants.

Breast Augmentation Plastic Surgery in Ocala, FL

Benefits of Breast Augmentation

Whether a patient knows breast surgery in Ocala as “breast augmentation” or a “boob job,” the procedure has several benefits. Following surgery, patients find an increased fullness and projection of their breasts and a better balance of breast and hip contours. Additionally, many patients have an enhanced self-image and level of self-confidence.

Recovery

Recovery begins immediately after your breast augmentation in Ocala, FL. Gauze dressings will be used to wrap your breasts with either an elastic bandage or support bra used to minimize swelling and provide support during healing. Patients are usually stable enough to go home after an hour or so.

Ocala plastic surgeon Dr. Tyrone and his staff will provide specific postoperative instructions prior to leaving the clinic. The patient may be given medications or a prescription, including pain pills and/or an antibiotic for preventing infection. Dr. Tyrone will provide direction on when you can resume normal activity and exercise following your breast augmentation.

What To Expect From A Breast Augmentation Procedure

Anesthesia

Dr. Tyrone will recommend the best choice of two anesthesias for you, intravenous sedation or general anesthesia.

Incision

Dr. Tyrone will discuss incision options that are appropriate for the desired outcome for your breast surgery in Ocala. All incisions are made inconspicuously to minimize visible scarring. Location of the incisions are based on the type of breast implant, degree of enlargement desired, the patient’s anatomy, and patient-surgeon preference. The areas of incision generally are:

  • Peri-areolar: Along the areolar edge
  • Inframammary fold: Fold under the breast
  • Axillary: In the armpit

Insertion & Placement Of The Implant

The implant is then inserted into a pocket for one of two placement locations. Submuscular placement is located under the pectoral muscle, while submammary/subglandular placement is found directly behind the breast tissue but over the pectoral muscle.

Incision closure

Layered sutures are used to close the incisions in the breast tissue. Sutures, skin adhesive, or surgical tape is then used to close the skin. Incision lines will fade over time while the quality of the scar depends on many factors not limited to genetics and bodily exposure to nicotine and infections.

Types of Breast Implants

Saline Breast Implants

These implants are filled with sterile salt water, providing a uniform shape, firmness, and feel. They are FDA-approved for patients age 18 and older.

Gummy Bear Breast Implants

These form-stable implants maintain their shape even if the implant shell is broken. The silicone gel inside the implant has a consistency thicker than traditional silicone gel implants. There is more of a projection at the bottom of the breast with gummy bear breast implants with tapering toward the top.

Round Breast Implants

This implant may make breasts appear fuller with higher profile options attaining even more projection. With the same shape all over the implant, there is less chance the implant will rotate out of place.

Smooth Breast Implants

Providing the softest feeling of all implants, smooth Ocala breast implants move with the implant pocket and give a more natural movement.

Silicone Breast Implants

This type of breast implant is filled with silicone gel, providing a feel more like natural breast tissue. Silicone breast implants may require regular visits with Dr. Tyrone to make sure they are functioning properly. They are FDA-approved for patients age 22 or older.

Textured Breast Implants

This type of breast implant develops scar tissue to stick to the implant itself, lowering the chances it moves around inside the breast and becomes repositioned. Textured breast implants also diminish the risk of a tight scar capsule.

Structured Saline Breast Implants

Though they are also filled with sterile salt water, these implants have an inner structure which gives the implant a more natural feel.
